Promotions

You can set up promotions to provide order level discounts to customers who register through your online course catalog. Promotions allow you to offer discounts to students in addition to class discounts, course series prices, and member discounts. Promotions are valid for a specified period of time and require the user to enter a valid promotion code to qualify for the discount. This discount will appear in the classes in cart and will alter the dollar amount the student owes.

Click SYSTEM OPTIONS, promotions.

Review the list of defined promotions.

2. Click Add to add a new promotion; or click the Edit action link next to the promotion you want to change.

Enter a name in the Promotion name field. This name will appear only on the promotions list.
Select Flat rate or Percent for the Promotional discount method item.
Enter an amount in the Discount amount or rate field, based on your Promotional discount method selection. This entry represents the discount that will be deducted from the total of the items in the shopping cart at checkout. Enter a rate with a decimal point; for example, enter a 5% discount as .05.
Enter dates in the Promotion start date and Promotion end date fields according to the mm/dd/yyyy format or click the Calendar icon to select a date. These dates define the period of time that the promotion is valid.
In the Create this discount section, select one of the following options:

- Based on dollar amount - Enter an amount in the Dollar amount field.
- Based on classes in cart - Enter a two-digit number in the # of items field however, this field does not need to be 2-digits.
- Based on code - Enter the appropriate code in the Code field.

3. Click Submit.

Note: Promotions set up with a Discount rate are applied differently than those set up with a Discount amount. If an order level promotion has a discount rate, it is applied to net class fees only (class fee minus applicable class fee discounts) and is not applied to materials fees, registration fees, or memberships. An order level promotion set as a flat discount amount is deducted from the order total without regard to what is in the order.
