Managing Course Attributes of the Certificate
1. Select COURSE MGMT/Certificates; It will return the Certificate Class Selection for screen. You can see a list of already created
Certificates. You can also search for a particular Certificate from the search field, if you have the required details.
2. You can take an example. E.g: Certificate in Science (SC102). We have already added the required 3 courses to this certificate.
3. Click on the radio button aligned left to the certificate name, Certificate in Science (SC102). You will find an extra option Manage
Course Attributes in the drop down list. This option appears in the list only after adding courses to the certificate. Lumens will return the
Manage Certificate:Certificate in Science screen.
4. We can enter the number of students Reserved for each course, the Grade and Attendance % in this page.
5. To edit the Elective Class Price click inside the box itself. This will open up a new window Manage Class Price and Accounting
Codes. Fill the Fee Amount and Accounting Code. Accounting Codes are used to track Certificate Class Registrations. Click on
Submit to complete the process.
6. While selecting the course as elective or mandatory, Lumens will calculate the displayed Certificate Price value according to the
following formula:Sum (all Mandatory class prices) + (Elective price * (# classes required for completion - (#mandatory classes)))
a) All 3 courses are mandatory: In our example, the courses offered are 3 and 2 of them are required for completion of the certificate.
So, we can't make all the three courses mandatory. It will give you an error message as shown below.
b) Out of 3 courses, if 2 are mandatory and 1 is elective: The 2 mandatory courses will fulfill the criteria of 2 required classes for
completion of the certificate. So, only their class prices will be added to get the certificate price.
c) Out of 3 courses, if 1 is mandatory and 2 are elective: The 2 required classes for completion of the certificate will include the
mandatory class and any one of the elective class. So, the class price of one mandatory and one elective will be added to get the
certificate price.
d) All 3 courses are elective: The 2 required classes for completion of the certificate will include any of the two elective classes. So, the
class price of any 2 elective will be added to get the certificate price.
7. Click on Submit after entering required values. You can reset the values at any time during this process by using reset button.
